My name is Samantha
Here is a little about me...
My
family are all dog crazy, my aunty started showing & breeding English setters about the same time I was born. Being the
first born, my family all thought I looked pretty cute cuddled up with a bunch of puppies in a whelping box or taking photos
of me with puppies in my cote. You could almost say I was raised with dogs.
I
went with my family to dog shows, which seemed like every weekend as a child, but I loved it & as I got older I soon had
a keen interest in dog breeds, & every thing about them. It became a passion of mine that is still with me today. I also
learned that it is important to train and socialize dogs & have a good understanding about their behaviour.
Through
the years I have worked at animal welfare centres & dog pounds, caring, fostering & rescuing stray dogs. Also educating
the public on the responsibilities you have when owning a dog.
I
have been training dogs for about 10 years. My own dogs which I have had have all been challenges to train, My first dog was
a beagle which was a stubborn, cheeky kind of dog but with patience & determination we both learned a lot, & he became
a wonderful, well behaved, happy & pleasant dog to have around.
I have also had a Mastiff, she came from a pound, & had been badly mistreated by
her previse owner. She was timid, untrustworthy with other dogs & hated men. Within a year or two of training and plenty
of socializing with dogs & people, she became a very lovable trustworthy dog that really touched our hearts.
And of cause our Dingo which in my book would be one of the most difficult breeds of all to own & train. But he
is doing well so far & is improving every day.
And my latest attention to the family, Cooper an Australian Shepherd that I am planning to get into a lot of dog sports
with him and so far we have had a lot of fun.
Check out what my dogs are up to.... on my dog’s page
I
have also been apart of Northern Obedience club For quit a few years now, & have been training other peoples dogs, as
well as friends and family dogs that have developed bad habits.
I
have also done some courses on dog behaviour, work as a puppy pre school instructor, & some vet nursing training while
I was working at the Lost Dogs Home.
